Harbor Vista: Page 1 & 2

The pattern Harbor Vista is by Kustom Krafts and I originally started this as a SAL way back in March 2011.  Oh my...has it really been that long?  Yikes!  Then a friend wanted to restart it as SAL in March of 2012.  Well as you can tell I'm a bit late...but better late than never.  ;O)  Here is what I have finished so far pages 1 & 2.  I hope it doesn't take another year to finish page 3.  LOL

Box Finishing Class

Meari from ILCS (I Love Cross Stitch) is teaching an on-line class on how to finish your cross stitch into a box.  The first assignment is to stitch up your piece and purchase a box with coordinating fabric.  Here is what I have so far:
I am so excited to see this come to life!
Thank you Meari for teaching this class!!
Oops I almost forgot to mention this pattern is from Just Cross Stitch Magazine Christmas Ornaments Edition (2010) p. 11 and was designed by Lori Markovic from La-D-Da.

Victorian Angel

This is the first of four total Victorian Angels.  The pattern is from Silhouettes in Cross Stitch (1998) by Julie Hasler (p. 31) and was stitched using DMC 325.  My friend Rachel (who is the co-owner of WOCS - World of Charity Stitching) donated this book to me last year.  I'm so happy to finally have been able to use it.  Thanks again Rachel!

Finally.....A Finish

Sadly I have had some unforeseen circumstances going on in my personal life and as a result I lost my stitching mojo for about 2 months.
I know....can you believe it?
But....My Mojo is back!!!
And I've finally finished my Star Gazer Lily by Solaria Gallery.

I have added two pictures because of the difference in lighting.
This is one of my favorite pieces!

Flowers for WOCS

World of Charity Stitching comes up with themes for members to stitch for quilts.  This allows for creativity as well as continuity of the quilt.  One of the current themes is flowers and I signed up to stitch Ellen Maurer-Stroh's Aster Flower which she graciously provides free on her website (which can be found here).

right before the holidays and today will be undergoing surgery.

Here is a photo of all of them together.
I have decided to send these to my charity group World of Charity Stitching (WOCS).
My friend Dona from WA, USA has agreed to make them into notebooks which will then be donated to children in an abuse shelter for Christmas.  Dona is an avid member of WOCS and the creator of WOCS facebook page (which can be found by clicking here) and the WOCS blog (which can be found by clicking here).  Come on over and see what we are all about...we would LOVE to have you!

I WAS RAK'D

Woo Hoo...I am super excited because I was RAK'D.  For those of you who don't know RAK stands for random act of kindness.  According to Wikipedia (2011) "A random act of kindness is a selfless act performed by a person or people wishing to either assist or cheer up an individual."

This is what I received in the mail
I think these kit's are fabulous and can't wait to start stitching them up!
THANK YOU Dotti K in PA, USA for this fantastic RAK!!!
It is extra special because this was my first one!

World Of Charity Stitching: WOCS

The World Of Charity Stitching (WOCS) is an organization who uses stitched pieces to make into quilts, tote bags, walker bags, pillows ect. to give to various organizations and individuals.  Right now they are donating "gifts" to nursing homes and shelters for abused women and children.  When I came across their web-site I just knew I had to join!  What a great way to bring a smile to those in need.  If you are interested or would like more information about this organization visit their facebook page by clicking here or visit their blog by clicking here

This is what I have made for them so far:
This silly cow will be made into a child's quilt.  The pattern came from a free web site which can be found by clicking here.  I stitched this on 14 ct. White Aide 2 over 1.

This shark will be made into another quilt for an older male.  The theme was marine life.  This free pattern was found on-line if you would like it just click here. This pattern was stitched on 14ct. White Aide 2 over 1.
This funky fish pattern was also a freebie I found on-line.  Unfortunately I was unable to find the website it came from...sorry.  This design is not for anything inparticular.  That is one of the nice things about this charity group.  You can stitch what ever you want or any theme you want and they will make it into a charitable gift.  This pattern was stitched on 14 ct. White Aida 2 over 1.
